I hope that you had an enjoyable summer holiday. It has been good to finally meet the children and many parents. I am looking forward to an exciting year in school, continuing to develop the high standards of achievement and the strong reputation that the school is already proud of.

Paul and Kate Edwards have a new addition to their family. Noah was born on Friday 27th August weighing 8lb 14oz. I?m sure that you will join with us in sending very best wishes to the Edwards family.

FRIENDS OF SWINDON VILLAGE PRIMARY SCHOOL
The FOSV will have its first meeting of the new school year on Wednesday 8th September at 7.30pm in Mrs Berry?s classroom. We will discuss events for Christmas. We welcome new faces to the group! Please note that the AGM of FOSV will be on Wednesday 22nd September at 7.30pm. Please join us if you can.

JUNIOR LIBRARY
This will be closed for the first two weeks of term as re-organisation takes place due to our recent building work. Mrs Humphries would be grateful for any parent volunteers who would be willing to help in the Junior Library or take work, such as covering books, home. Please contact the school office if you have some time available to help. Mrs Humphries would be very grateful.
JOB VACANCIES
- We have a vacancy for two midday supervisors. The hours are 5 per week, Monday to Friday. The job starts each day at 12.15pm and finishes at 1.15pm. The salary for this is post is £10809 pro rata.
We have a vacancy for two cleaners. The hours are ten per week. Each weekday the cleaners would work two hours between 3.30 and 6pm. The salary is £10560 pro rata.

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Debbie Gronow, our school Bursar, who has recently passed her Certificate in School Business Management and Diploma from the Institute of Accounting Management.
PREMISES
You will be aware that our Foundation Stage (Reception) area is currently being enhanced by the construction of a toilet block. The building itself is now complete. We hope that the flooring will be laid, plumbing completed and partitions put in place so that the facility can be fully operational by half term.
CLASS TRIPS
On Tuesday 21st September Year One are visiting the Holst Museum in Cheltenham. This visit links well with the children?s work focusing on Victorian homes and artifacts.
On Tuesday 28th September Year Two are visiting Clevedon as part of their geography work all about holidays past and present.
STAFFING
We have welcomed Emma Margetts as our new part time teacher working in Year One alongside Emma Carolan. Emma Margetts is covering Harriet Bailey?s maternity leave. Fred Dadge has also joined the staff as caretaker. Debbie Daly has returned to work in Year 4. She will initially work on a part time basis alongside Sam Jones, one of regular supply teachers.
