SPRING TERM: NEWSLETTER 9

11.03.05

Dear Parents,

COMIC RELIEF: FRIDAY 14TH MARCH

We have had a very exciting non-uniform day today! The children and staff made a great effort to make their hair wild. In assembly on Wednesday I showed the children a video explaining the aims of Comic Relief: how the money raised will be spent and how children in parts of Africa have very different lives to the children who attend Swindon Village Primary. So far the school has raised £410.20.

BIRDWISE

Nick Williams from Birdwise will be in school on Thursday 17th March. He will be undertaking two presentations: one to the Infant children: "Birds Are Everywhere" and one to the Junior children: "Living World". As in previous years wildlife photographs will be available for the children to purchase on the day. These will cost 80p each or 2 for £1.50. Proofs of the photographs will be on display in the entrance hall from Thursday afternoon.

There will be no charge for this activity.

DISPLAY OF ART

The following children have produced artwork for the Cheltenham Museum and Art Gallery Art Exhibition: Sabina Smurthwaite, Lauren Fennel, Ryan Watling, Sam Green, Alice Prout, Jennifer Burford, Kai Burrows, Ryan McAlary, Rhys Jeffree, Hannah Berry, Imogen Burn, Bethany Hopkins, Aidan Gardner, Amy Meredith, Scott Parker, Rowan Ashton, Toby Doyle, Jamie Styman, Chloe Betteridge, Yasmin Reed, Guy Bates, Theo Green, Lucy Hollands.

Thank you to all of these children for their artistic contributions. We hope that most of their work will be on display at Cheltenham Museum and Art Gallery between 12th and 19th April. Thank you to Mrs MacLeod for ensuring that the children had the opportunity to enter the competition.

YEAR 6 ISLE OF WIGHT RESIDENTIAL TRIP

The deadline for payments for this trip is Monday 21st March. Mrs Gronow would be grateful if all outstanding balances could be paid by this date. The total cost for the trip is £160.

The meeting for all those children going to the Isle of Wight and their parents is on Tuesday 22nd March at 6.30pm in the school hall.

MARY GODWINS UNDER FIVES - EASTER FAIR

WILDLIFE QUIZ

Our school competed against Woodmancote Primary School yesterday afternoon in the first round of the Annual Wildlife Quiz. We were represented by Calum Armstrong, Danielle Hughes, Megan Roberts and Jordan Kent who performed excellently to give us victory in a very close contest. Thank you to all the staff who helped organise the event.
