Dear Sir or Madam
As you know the floods in July last year, left communities in turmoil and many are still struggling to recover.
In response to the threat of future flooding, residents associations in Tewkesbury decided to form a forum. The idea
was to campaign for change at Government and local level, to ensure sensible planning and for monies to be made available
to help protect our homes and communities.
We are now called The Severn and Avon Valley Combined Flood Group, representing several hundred residents in
Tewkesbury, through our respective associations. Please find attached our
Terms of Reference. Our group meets
monthly and we have already seen improvements in how our own local authority is responding to issues about the
maintenance of water courses and building on areas at risk of flooding. We believe we have played a part in this.
Our members are very keen to work with all groups throughout the County and to join with others to bring about
much needed change. I am now trying to contact other groups (such as residents associations or campaign groups)
to discuss how we can all work together to achieve all our aims.
If you know of communities within your area that suffer from flooding, I would be grateful if you would either
provide me with contact details or pass my details on. Please also feel free to forward this email to any parish
Councillors who may be willing to help with this information.
Your help in this matter would be appreciated. Please ring me, or contact our Secretary, Dave Witts (01684) 290314 if
you have any questions . We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
